I am searching for information about my Ethiopian birth family. My original name was Zemenesh‚ and my younger sister’s original name was Tackelech. We also had an older sister named Tesfenesh who remained with our birth family. Our birth father was not involved. Our birth mother was alive during the adoption process and attended court hearings in Addis Ababa‚ traveling many hours (approximately 5–8 hours) to appear. My adoptive parents were told she needed assistance from friends for transportation to government offices connected to the adoption process. Our adoption was completed around August 16–18‚ 2009‚ through America World Adoption Association. The case involved approval through Ethiopia’s Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MOWA) before court proceedings. I have identifying physical marks consisting of small scars on both eyelids that may have been documented in early medical or intake records. I am hoping to learn more about my birth mother‚ siblings‚ extended family‚ or the region or village where we originally lived in Ethiopia.
