My maternal grandfather was born in Denver, Colorado on June 3, 1918 to a doctor-father and a part-indian mother, and was possibly given the name John Hamilton Schaefer. Schaefer may be spelled any number of ways, i.e. Schafer, Shafer, Shaffer. He was adopted by Gary "Jack" and Myrtle Ada Piper who lived in Greeley, Colorado.
