My fathers adopted name given was Richard Wayne Smith. He was adopted around 1 year of age and was photographed and printed in the newspaper in Los Angele snot sure which one however he was adopted from the Los Angeles children’s Orphanage by Ralph W “ Weston “ Smith and Alma Richardson Smith. In 1940-41 Ralph was born in Nebraska and Alma was born in Pennsylvania. They also adopted another child 2 -4 years later an infant and named her Nancy My father always resented being adopted and although curious he could not bring himself to the courthouse to find any answers however he did mention that he once heard the birth parents last name was something to the effect of Doolittle and said that, that last name was not appealing to him . I don’t know if that name is even close to the truth. On my fathers death bed he apologized for not looking into his both parents ancestry and felt as though he kept pertinent family history and medical history from all of us five grown kids and wish he still had time to go back and change his mind and follow through. I am the oldest and would very much love to have always known my real paternal families last name as well as my father given his last days of life. Please guide me or help in someway I would forever be grateful for my children and grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins to all embrace their birthright “A Family’s True Paternal Surname” Thank You from my deepest being
