I am an adoptee and am interested in finding my birth parents. My parents adopted me in Southern California, through the Holy Family Adoption Agency, when I was an infant. I have the original petition for adoption submitted to the California court, as well as a sheet with non-identifying information on both my birth mother & birth father. Also, I was born with clubfoot my left foot was severely clubbed and to this day is very different in size, shape, etc. from my right foot, which was more easily corrected and shows no signs of a problem. Some of the information from these documents is as follows: My adoptive parents petitioned to adopt Diane Marie Cervenka, who becomes Victoria Ann Neitzel, and that is me, now Victoria Ann Barbato, my formerly married name. I was born in Long Beach, California on October 16, 1967. My biological mother is of Czech descent and my biological father is of German descent. My adoptive parents told me the nuns at the adoption agency told them, that I was the result of my father, a 31 year old executive, having an affair with his secretary, a 22 year old single woman, and my mother. Apparently my father was married and had a family with someone other than my mother, so I was given up for adoption to hide the shame and or socially unacceptable prospect of raising a child in a single parent household, not to mention the costs involved and the struggle it would have been to take care of my birth defect.
