This is the only information my adopted mother was able to write down before her death. "Peter K. Stevens was born January 20, 1970 at Hawthorne Hospital in Hawthorne, California. 21 inches long. Birth mother was 17 years old, birth father was 16. Their parents convinced them to give up the baby so that they could continue school and so that the child would have a better life. He (birth father) took her for each doctor’s visit and was dedicated to looking after her. Her background is from Columbia (sic?), his from France." The first photographs of me with my adopted parents begin in March of 1970. I believe that I stayed in the hospital from my birth in January until March. There may have been a period of time where my adoptive parents came to visit me in the hospital before we went home together.
