My son was born at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, CA on June 9, 1982. The adoption agency was Children’s Home Society. The family who adopted him were in their 30’s and had one living son who was about 5-7 y/o when his family adopted his brother from the CHS in Stockton. The family had a daughter after their first son who died from a genetically acquired disease. Their Episcopalian Church greatly comforted them. They wanted a sibling for their son but didn’t want to risk having another child who would die so they decided to adopt. My son has dark brown curly hair and brown eyes. And a cleft chin. His biological father is from Mexico. I wrote a letter for my son to explain who I was and who his father was and that I prayed for wisdom in my decision to give him up for adoption. I explained that I believed God wanted him to be with the family who adopted him. I was told the mom cried when she read the letter and was thrilled that her new baby had curly hair because she had curly hair. I have wanted to meet and hopefully have a relationship with the son I gave up for adoption ever since I gave him up for adoption. I want him to know I didn’t give him up because I didn’t love him or didn’t want him. I told my husband before we married about my first son and my other children are aware they have an older brother. I just really want to meet him.
