I am an African American female. I was given to a family immediately after my birth but was returned to my mother. On 7/14/1956 my mother contacted adoption services. She was born in Pennsylvania and lived in Pittsburgh. Later she came to California. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. One of her siblings died very early. Her brother married, had a total of 9 children, 8 of which survived. My mother may have moved to Cleveland after I was born at her mother’s request. I don’t believe my maternal grandmother knew about me. My mother attended business college. My mother had one daughter from one of her marriages that she raised. In 1957, I believe that daughter was about 6 yrs old. My mother was married and divorced twice. It was after the second divorce that she met my father who was a barber. I am aware who my biological father is. This revelation came through 23andMe where I had submitted DNA. On that site it tells me of a second cousin... but they took the test anonymously so I haven’t any info. In getting to know my paternal relatives my life has become so much richer. I would like to share a life with my maternal relatives.
