I was told my birth-mother was of Norwegian descent, and, that the, last, thing she said, upon handing me over to my adoptive-parents (who had allowed her to keep me for, about, one week), that " i come from people with a lot of hair" (blonde, too). I was, also, told that my birth-father was from Canada, who, during her pregnancy, had promised to marry her, but, instead, "left her, and, went back to Canada" (im assuming they wrte, NOT, married?)! My, original, birth certificate was "changed", to create a, new, certificate, listing my adoptive parents, only - and, the adoption was "closed"! I, once, tried to get a copy of, even, my, new, birth cert - which was supposed to be contained in a safe at St. Lukes of the Mountai Episcopal Church, in La Crescenta (where i grew up - however, they said they didnt have the key, and, had tried, but, could not, even, bust open the lock! I had a couple of relatives that, supposedly, knew my, whole, birth story - but, they would, never, reveal a word! I dont know WHY the details should have been, such, a secret - especially since my, adoptive, parents - George Gati & Arabella, Delores (Alvillar) Gati - at least, never tried to hide the fact that i was adopted? (Im, even, wondering if, POSSIBLY, my, adoptive, father could have been my, BIRTH-father..maybe, had an, illicit, affair, etc. - especially, since we had a, lot of, personality traits in common!) (or.... if, one of, my birth-parents could have had some notoriety - since, my dad knew a lot of, famous, people (he was said to be "a P. I. to the Stars"! - and, was, apparen ly, just as good at knowing how to, successfully, HIDE things, as he was at FINDING things! Another, interesting, fact is that my parents, for some reason, found the need to get RE-married, another, two, times, i believe (my mother said, because "they were afraid of losing me"!) - as if thet wanted to make SURE that their marriage would "stick" - so that there would be, no, reason to have me taken away from them? The first time was in 1950, in Kingman, TX (where she lived, and, was waitressing at the Hotel Cortez - they met when he was, just, traveling through) the second time was, in LA, just, before i was born (had some legal issye arose, since?), and, then, again, just, after i was born! And, the connection for the adoption was set up by an attorney friend, who, supposedly, had, personally, known (or, at least, known of) my mother! My father paid to have my birth-mother flown out to LA, and, to give birth at the Huntington Memorial Hospital, in Pasadena, near the attorney.. Im not sure, but.... I believe she might have stayed around, in the area,, for a while, at least, after i was born?
