I am speaking on behalf of my son (19 now was only 10 when this happened) who’s sister was taken by CPS from their father in 2012 and believed to be adopted 2014/15. He was told by the worker then that he could remain in some sort of contact or at least an occasional photo. The worker knew this wouldn’t be allowed but lied to my son. We’ve learned he actually WAS supposed to be able to but that the worker had dropped the ball. This has deeply affected my son emotionally. Even if he isn’t able to see her yet (since she’s still a minor) some sort of something to let him know she is ok would be at least comforting to him. He really wanted to be that "big brother" and couldn’t wait until she was born. He was devastated when he realized seeing her was not going to happen. He talks about her all the time.
