I was born at 6:35 am on Sunday‚ November 15th‚ 1981 at Community Hospital in Santa Rosa‚ CA. I’m now 42‚ recently moved back to my hometown‚ and for the first time feel compelled to research and reclaim my indigenous identity. My adoptive parents are Julie and Roger Klein of Sebastopol‚ CA. They were high school sweethearts that were in their thirties in the early 80s and thought they could not conceive. My birth mother was a patient of Dr. Johanson during her pregnancy. My adoptive parents and the Johanson family were close friends (Roger was even Dr. Johnson’s best man) and helped connect and facilitate the adoption. My birth parents were teenagers and both attended Analy High School in Sebastopol‚ CA during the pregnancy. My bio father’s name is Michael M Stinnett. His sister Tammi and I popped up on each other’s family trees after submitting DNA to the website 23&me. My bio mother’s name (I believe) is Susan McCord her mother was reported to have native american ancestry. The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) applied to my adoption. 23&me also connected me with Bonnie Summers‚ a first cousin on my birth mother’s side‚ according to the site. I fully respect the ongoing privacy of my biological parents‚ recognize that going through the process of unplanned pregnancy as teens was most likely traumatic‚ and realize that they chose to have my adoption records sealed. I am open to connecting with any biological family members in whatever way feels mutually comfortable as I try to reconstruct my family tree. I am most interested in piecing together my genealogical history in order to establishing eligibility for tribal membership. Thanks for reading!
