I am searching for my paternal grandmother’s family. My father, Gary Wayne Williams, was born February 13, 1949. He states around 1957, his adoptive mother, Ethel Williams (married to John) showed him an article describing the death of his biological mother, Mattie Harvey. This article describes Mattie as having obtained an illegal abortion (from what I understand, it was not her first, and she was having medical complications, so she was dumped from a vehicle along the side of the highway where she later died. Besides my father, she was said to have birthed and adopted out two more known children. One is named Jesslyn Meeks. All of these people have lived in, and all events have occurred in Arkansas. The third child’s name is unknown, but I believe it is a female residing in Texas. Mattie Harvey may have also married into the surname, Myers. If you have any information on these people, or if you remember the article or story about Mattie Harvey and her death, I welcome this information! It will help me trace my paternal side of my family.
