A Few of Our Members Currently Searching Within Fiji Who Chose To Be Featured
1. Pratap : My sister and I were adopted together from st Christopher’s near Suva in 1990, and moved to Australia.
Born my name was Bhan Pratap Chand, my sister was Madhu
Dad- shiu Sahai
Mum- sushila Wati
POB- A.M.Unit Suva
Around 1992 we returned to visit my birth families. My dad was elderly and had children older and younger then me from at least three wives. My mum has remarried a melinision Fijian man.
My adoptive father has passed away so I can’t ask him for help.
All I know is that they adopted through the Fijian welfare dep, and my birth family was helped by an American welfare ngo, with West in its name.
2. HemiAnnLeach : My birth mothers name: Inesi Tinai
Born: Colonial War Memorial Hospital‚ Suva‚ Fiji
Adoption went through Social Welfare - NZ High Commission‚ Suva Courts‚ August 1985.
3. OCONNOR71 : Looking for my daughter, born on 16/6/1996 in Nadi hospital might not be the precise date but very close.the year is correct.I live in Australia.
4. Priscilla0880 : Hi I’m Priscilla. I was born on March 08th 1980 in Naussori, Fiji island. I was sent to an orphanage where I was blessed to be adopted by Amar and Asha who were born and raised in Fiji as well but had immigrated to canada. My adopted father Amar Singh is part of the Singh family which owns City transport in fiji. I was adopted and in April of 1981 I was brought to live in Maple Ridge BC Canada.
10. Chocy : My biological mother’s birth name is Donita Simmons.
My biological father was a Dr Tiko - a surgeon who worked in the Lautoka hospital possibly.
13. Swizter : Given up for adoption at Lautoka‚ Fiji. Birth mother most likely doesn’t live in the same city- Lautoka. Birth mother is said to be a young Fijian Indian lady.
15. OliviaRosemary : My current name is Olivia‚ because my adopted mother got the name of the person she was naming me after wrong. Deaconess Olivia turns out to be Deaconess OLOVIA. She was Deaconess of Dilkusha Methodist Girls’ Home. Dilkusha named me Rosemary—and my adopted mother decided to make that my primary middle name. My name on the letter informing my adopted mother that she had been approved to take me was Falochana with “Rosemary” in brackets. My surname at birth was Wati‚ and I believe I was born in Nadi‚ or possibly Suva‚ in Fiji.. I was in Dilkusha until February 1988.
My birth mother’s name was Salochana or Salochini‚ and she was 13 at the time of my birth. She was sent to St Christopher’s Home. Or so I am told. I have no concrete or proven information regarding my birth father‚ not even a name‚…which is odd‚ considering my conception was allegedly incest and I’m pretty sure that means he should have been named and shamed.
I was matched with my birth mother just minutes after setting up my profile. It turns out that she had been searching for me for years. It's been a joy to connect with her and the rest of my biological family.
