Although he could have still had his fathers name Richard Davidson at that time. It is said that the boy was named after his biological father either Richard or Ricky.

104. Bbpcmd43 : In Birmingham 1937 or 1938 a boy was born to mother Doris Ivy McNiel. Father John (Jack) O,Dell. Out of wedlock so don’t know what was put on birth certificate. And a church adopted the child out. Apparently the churches records where burnt. Then on 3 rd Jan they had a full sister to him and kept Maureen Mavis O,Dell then 5 years later had Pauline. I am Maureen’s son so this boy is my uncle .. Thanks Michael
