Tasmania Adoption Reunion Registry

Adopted.com is proud to offer a country-wide Adoption Reunion Registry for Tasmania where you can meet by mutual consent whether you've accessed your adoption records or not. From Hobart to Smithton and everywhere in between, if both parties want to meet then you can find each other on Adopted.com! Tasmania law recognizes that adopted persons have the right to know their origins and identity, and therefore provides for adult adopted persons to have access to their original birth record and other records associated with the adoption. All Tasmanian residents seeking information are required to attend an interview with a counsellor before receiving information of any kind.

41. CarolMayPassmore : My twin brothers‚ were born to Cynthia May Passmore‚ b. 7 July 1932. I believe we were separated at birth‚ from Latrobe Tasmania in 1958. It seems they were adopted‚ together‚ privately as they found our mother in Jan 1979‚ when they visited her home‚ unannounced‚ in Ross Tasmania. They had access to documents stating her name and address‚ prior to state adoption law changes. I did not discover I was adopted until 2001‚ access to my file was through adoption information services‚ in Tasmania. My mother had to agree to contact‚ I counselling and we exchanged letters. My mother was unaware of how many children she gave birth too‚ nor ended‚ being part of the forced adoption era. By the time I found her they were no longer in contact. I was refused any information to find them. They do not know of my existence and will not be looking. Cynthia died 4 January 2016. Our father‚ Alex Payne‚ Perth Western Australia is alive. I believe our mother told you he was deceased‚ as she did me.

42. CarolMayPassmore : Father Alex Payne,WA. Mother Cynthia Passmore, Tasmania

43. Michael19 : My mother went to Australia in 1950 and returned to England in 1955. I found out (after my mother passed away) that she had a daughter whilst she was in Australia, she moved around a bit staying in Melbourne,Brisbane and Hobart (Tasmania). I have checked government adoption depts in mainland Australia and there is no record of any adoptions with a birth mother named Dorothy Ward so I’m assuming that the birth was in Tasmania in 1953.

44. Gayelenebannister : I was born in Battery Point Hobart Tasmania 26th June 1970

45. Davidvankeulen : Born in Hobart Mother’s name was Julie, Julie had two kids i think two boys. From my understanding, I was given up when the father of my half? brothers came back and disapproved of the new man. Was given to Julie and john van keulen at 6months of age Julie and John lived in Launceston and had a son chris with serable palsy and a daughter catherine who is well recognised in netball.... Chris and catherines mother is extremely well recognised in the Tasmanian sporting hall of fame and broke world records back in the 80s before married to john van keulen
