I had him for 10 days in the hospital before he was taken away by the adoption agency people. They drove off with him in a Mini van. I was alone during all this, my parents were emigrating to Australia and the landlady where I was living said I’d have to leave if I kept my child. I had nowhere else to go. I had to make the worst decision I’ve ever had to make. I loved him dearly, I cry silently every birthday, wishing I could hold him again and say “Happy birthday Son” He was adopted by a couple where the new father was a civil servant and mother a hairdresser. The adoption was made legal at Staffordshire County Court in the following September. I just want him to know I never ever stopped loving him, and did what I did, because I wanted the best for him which I could not give him at that time.
