70. McInnis : My grandfathers name was Joseph (McInnis). We believe Joseph was born on November 8th, 1899. He died in 1948 at the young age of 49 years old from what was believed to be a heart attack. We know he lived in the Grey Nun’s Orphanage on University Avenue in Charlottetown. When Joseph was around 8 years old, he was put on a train and sent out to St.Peters, PEI where he lived with the McInnis’s. The McInnis’ were farmers and it is believed they needed help with the farm so they got Joseph sent out to them on the train. Joseph’s last name was not McInnis but he took the McInnis name when he went to live with Peter McInnis in Morell. We do not believe that he was officially adopted. Joseph McInnis married Loretta McGuire (maiden name). Joseph and Loretta had 4 children together. All 4 children are still alive. It is rumoured that Joseph’s last name could have been McCormack but this rumour cannot be traced back to where it originated. I am looking for any information regarding my grandfather Joesph. We are hoping to find his birth family because we are interested and curious in who they might be!

75. CatherineLK : I was born at Grace Maternity hospital in Halifax NS.The story I was told was I was supposed to be going to the United States to be adopted, but I either had a health problem or problem with paper work. A nun came from PEI to get me, had to name me so I could be released, took me to PEI and myself & 5 other babies were in a foster home with an elderly lady. The lady got sick so my adoptive mother who was head of the catholic womens league in Summerside was notified to find homes for the babies. She took me and eventually adopted me. I think I know my birth mothers name from a paper I saw, but adoptive family wouldn’t talk about it.
