22. ShaunHaas : I’m hoping to locate my birth family. I was born in Winnipeg at St. Boniface Hospital on April 21, 1965 and named Donn Marie Cole. I recently received my original birth certificate. My birth mother’s name is Jacqueline Melody Cole and she was 17 at the time of my birth, was born in 1947 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Birth mother’s parents separated and divorced when she was four years old. For most of her life she was raised in Ontario by her mother and step-father. She was never legally adopted by him so I don’t know if Cole is the last name of my birth mother’s father or step father. According to a letter I have from Child and Family Services she went to live with her father and step-mother in Fort Churchill in December 1964. Her father was an officer in the Navy which he had joined in 1945. He was 39 years old in 1965. He and his wife (2nd I guess) had 3 other children, 2 girls age 9 years and 14 months and 1 boy age 4. In February 1965 Jacqueline and her step mother moved into a maternity home in Winnipeg and then returned to Fort Churchill after my birth.

Scottish descent. 5lbs at birth. Mother was 5"4‚ birth father was 6"‚ both Scottish descent. My name now is Kelly‚ given to me when adopted in July or August of 1967. My adopted parents raised me in Selkirk Manitoba. I know I have an uncle that was a mechanical draftsman. My birth father was into amateur sports and physed of some type. My birth mother was a secretary and had struggled with the decision to give me up as she could not financially support me at that time.
